The Perfect Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

The Perfect Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Who doesn’t love a good chocolate chip cookie? These are soft, chewy chocolate chip cookies that you will find irresistible! You can’t beat a classic. These cookies will be sure to disappear!

This is an easy to follow recipe, they store and freeze well too!

Ingredients needed:

  • Butter – softened at room temperature
  • Granulated sugar
  • Light brown sugar – packed firmly in the measuring cup
  • Large Egg
  • Vanilla extract
  • Flour – be sure to scoop using a spoon into the measuring cup and scrape off the top using the flat end of a butter knife
  • Instant vanilla pudding mix
  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Semi-sweet mini chocolate chips (substitute regular size if you prefer)

Directions to make:

  • Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees and prepare baking sheets by covering with a sheet of parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine butter and sugars using an electric mixer. Mix until they are creamed, about 2 minutes on medium speed.
  • Add in the eggs and vanilla, mix until combined.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients – flour, pudding mix, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mix between additions until all combined.
  • Add in chocolate chips and fold in until they are evenly distributed in the dough.
  • Scoop cookies onto the tray and space them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake cookies for 10 minutes or until edges are light golden brown.
  • Let the cookies cool on the tray for about 3 minutes and then move onto a cooling rack to come to room temperature before storing.

I recommend cooking only 1 tray in the oven at a time so the heat distributes evenly to cook the perfect chewy chocolate chip cookie.

Can you freeze the dough?

Yes! After making the dough, you can place in a freezer safe and seal tight container. In order to thaw, place in the fridge the night before using or come to room temperature on the counter for a few hours.

Can you freeze the cookies?

Yes, these cookies freeze great! Freezing is perfect if you are someone who likes to have cookies on hand to take out a few at a time, or if you are making ahead for a party! Simply allow to come to room temperature after cooking and place in a freezer safe gallon ziploc bag. To thaw, take out of the freezer a few hours before consuming OR heat in a microwave or toaster oven if you are just heating a few at a time.
